What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than two sold out shows at the First Ontario Place in St. Catherines with Jan Caruana, Jennine Profeta, Elvira Kurt and token piano-playing man, Kevin Baker.
Even the name of the town is a lady!

What a panel! Moderated by Michelle Daly (Senior Director, Comedy Content CBC) we talked our faces off about what it’s like being a lady writer in comedy. BUT – everyone had great advice for the entire audience about how to pitch, get your material in front of the right executives, conduct yourself in a writer’s room, etc.
Plus I am now going to get so much free coffee from brain-pickers!

One of the easiest gigs a gal can get is writing the opening monologue of the 2018 Toronto ACTRA Awards for one of Canada’s funniest and best improvisers, Colin Mochrie. He makes everything hilarious.

And when his adorable actor/comedian wife Deb McGrath joins him on stage? Just sit back and listen to the laughs roll in.

Travelling with these nut bars (Jennine Profeta, Elvira Kurt, Karen Parker and piano-man Kevin Barker) to Fredericton, St. John and Annapolis Royal was a god damn delight.
This tour had it all. Sold out shows, standing ovations, tiny SUV’s, treacherous stretches of highway, an audience member telling us about how she fisted an airline pilot (true story) boxes of wine, freezing feet, amazing nachos, a bread phone and so many laughs.
The ladies (and one guy) are heading to the East Coast of Canada for a mini-tour. Come join us and see if the set list gets longer than just Elvira, Options and Bell/Horn.

Just when I’m about to plug the damn show I learn it’s sold out. So THAT’S great!

You know what makes the Irish laugh? Everything. Even before the show starts.

Got to perform the inaugural TheatreSports Ireland show thanks to this hard working fella, Darren Yorke of Grand Stretch Improv.

Got too drunk/excited to take a cast photo, but Darren joined me, Denise Jones, Michael Teigen, Dan Dumsha, Duane Keogh, and special guest Dave Keogh on guitar. Here are some of us, already drinking before the show started.

Oh man – this was the VERY last contract that Second City has with NCL. Due to a cast member’s family emergency, I got to swoop in for a week and get one last taste of that delicious sea life on the Norwegian Gem.
There were no better people in the world to get caught in a post-lobster roll Maine downpour than these beautiful maniacs.

Every once in a while, life gives you what I call a ‘Pony Day.’

Here me out. So… if you subscribe to the whole ‘life is a gift’ theory – then every day is like unwrapping a present, right? Most of the time, that day unwraps and is kinda boring. Like you’re getting socks. Cool cool, we all need socks. But THEN… some days, a phone call or email will make the day unwrap itself with a huge surprise. Like you just got given a pony.
I was in the Calgary airport leaving the Banff World Media Festival, where I’d written the Rockie Awards Gala monologue for Anthony Anderson (Blackish). JFL producer Bruce Hills was in the audience – he loved the monologue – and hired me to write for the JFL Galas. THAT was a ‘Pony Day.’

Along with Dean Jenkinson, I got to write the Gala scripts for Laverne Cox and Jane Krakowski. It was my first time at JFL. Hopefully not my last.
